Subscriber Interview #1: Luke Zhou

A HVAC/Automation Electrician Shares His Thoughts About Deming

THE AIM of this new podcast series is to kick-off a small PDSA where I sit down with a subscriber for a long-form interview to learn about their Deming journey and how they apply his teachings in their daily work. Our first guest is a fellow GTA resident, Luke Zhou, a 25 year old electrician who specializes in HVAC and automation systems with experience on a lot of job sites for his age, and has seen just as many faulty management practices used by his employers as well as the customers he’s been contracted to help. In this episode, he shares some stories about the poor management practices he’s witnessed from working with a local school board to new condo developments, data centres, and an auto manufacturing company.

This episode will be free to all subscribers, but future episodes will be first released as a paid-tier exclusive and made freely available after 2-4 weeks.

Luke’s Recommendation for Learning About Deming

Comments from Luke

I really enjoy the NUMMI YouTube video because of how the content creator highlights several key points of Dr. Deming principles of quality in an easy way for both technical and non-technical people to understand. Whether that is developing a positive relationship between the workers, spending more effort on training, or really understanding how a complicated manufacturing process works.
